Asahi and Kaori are a happy couple and plan to marry soon. But Kaori’s mother looks down on a prospective son-in-law who grew up in an orphanage and works as a boxing trainer. Things become more complicated when Asahi tries to help his best friend Hiroto who has been scammed by a shady businessman. Yujiro HARUMOTO tells an unsentimental yet compelling story about loyalty, friendship, and family.
Director’s Bio
Yujiro HARUMOTO, born in Kobe in 1978, graduated from Nihon University College of Art. He worked as an assistant director for period films and TV series at Shochiku Kyoto Studios and then became a freelancing assistant director for many other film and TV productions. GOING THE DISTANCE is his feature length debut and has received two awards at the 2017 Festival International of the Cinémas d’Asie de Vesoul.
